Malibu is coming to life again!
The summer brought sun and fun to the city and now that Labor Day is past us, there are still a bunch of fun things to do in Malibu. Here is what you may want to check out this month:
The Pepperdine Flags
Each September, Pepperdine stages the Waves of Flags display honoring the lives lost in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, with nearly 3,000 flags in Alumni Park along Pacific Coast Highway and Malibu Canyon Road—one for each innocent victim, including a national flag for each foreign country that lost a citizen in the attack.
Started by students in 2008, Waves of Flags has become a Pepperdine tradition, one that attracts attention and admiration from across the country. It has come to transcend the commemoration of a single tragic day. The display educates both students and people far beyond our campus about the history of our country and the overwhelming sacrifices that heroic men and women have made to keep it safe, prosperous, and free.
Flags are in place until September 26.
Location: Papperdine Alumni Park at PCH and Malibu Canyon Rd.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to find seating and to allow the ceremony to begin promptly. Attendees and members of the public are also invited to visit the Reflection Station to write messages of reflection and remembrance on the provided cards and attach them to any flagpole.

Aviator Nation Dreamland - Sunday Sessions last event September 14
Sunday Sessions is a four-part summer music and lifestyle series at the Malibu Pier, presented in partnership with Aviator Nation Dreamland and Malibu Pier, with local vendor pop-ups sponsored by The Malibu Project.
Held on the second Sunday of each summer month, the event blends live music, beachside vibes, food and drink + retail pop-ups into one iconic California experience. This event is super fun!
This initiative is an effort to support local Malibu businesses recovering and rebuilding after recent wildfires. Every purchase contributes to supporting California State Parks, revitalizing the local economy and celebrating the resilience of the Malibu community.
Location: Malibu Pier, 23000 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, CA
Garden Tea at the Getty Villa
The Getty has reopened and has added a new garden tea experience! Tea will be held in the Founder’s Room and is offered Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1-3pm. The Getty Villa is one of the most beautiful and iconic places in all of Malibu and is a wonderful place to spend the day.
Start your visit with Garden Tea which includes savory sandwiches, sweet scones and tea breads, and gourmet desserts, as well as fruit, cheese, and a varied selection of teas. (Wine and prosecco are available for an additional charge.) The price for Garden Tea is $60 for adults and $50 for children, plus tax and an 18% service charge.
The Garden Tea was inspired by the Getty Villa's authentically recreated first-century Roman gardens—and by visitors' fond memories of the beloved Tea Room, which closed in 1997.

Reservations are required. Please call 1 (800) 369-3059.
