Three Malibu Must-Do's

Three Malibu Must-Do’s

Although Malibu is known for its beaches (for good reason), it has plenty more to offer! While we can’t possibly tell you everything that makes Malibu amazing in one blog post, we’ll give you a few ideas below. Start reading, then grab your stuff and get started!

Shopping Spree

Let’s start with the important stuff - shopping! While Malibu may not be known for its commercial centers, there of course must be shopping to satisfy the high-end lifestyle of residents and tourists. When it’s time for a little shopping spree, the Malibu Country Mart is the place to go. It’s a chic outdoor shopping center featuring a curated selection of high-end boutiques, designer stores, and gourmet food options. It has a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere and has dining and shopping options for everyone. There is even a small park in the middle for the kids. Also, right across the street, Malibu’s newest shopping center dubbed “Cross Creek Ranch” is finally opening stores and will only add to the area's wonderful options. As of now, Kith and Frankies Bikinis are the first two stores open, but more to come soon…

Weekend at Malibu Beach Inn

Malibu Beach Inn is a luxurious oceanfront hotel situated along Malibu’s iconic coastline. It’s situated on Carbon Beach aka “Billionaires Beach” and is right next to Nobu and Soho House, so you may get lucky and spot a celebrity or two. You are also right next to the Malibu Pier which features Malibu Farm, a popular brunch spot which we covered in another blog post HERE. The property features elegantly appointed rooms and suites, many of which come with private balconies and direct beach access. Guests can indulge in upscale amenities including a full-service spa, a fine dining restaurant, and personalized concierge services.

Hikes

Hiking in Malibu offers a fantastic mix of coastal views, rugged terrain, and scenic beauty. No matter what level of hiking you enjoy, Malibu has something to offer. For a relatively easy hike, Solstice Canyon comes with a beautiful reward—waterfalls and the ruins of an old mansion. The trail is shaded and offers great views of the surrounding hills. Escondido Falls is a popular hike leading to one of the largest waterfalls in the Santa Monica Mountains. The trail is about 3.8 miles round-trip and can be a bit muddy in parts, but the views are worth it. You will need to walk over (or through) multiple small streams, so don’t wear any shoes you aren’t willing to get dirty! Lastly, for those looking for more of a challenge, we recommend the Mugu Peak Trail, which is a stepper climb, but has resting points and features amazing ocean views at the top. Each of these trails offers its own unique experience, from ocean vistas to serene canyons. Be sure to bring plenty of water, wear sunscreen, and check trail conditions before heading out.
